On the sea today 14 Common Scoter flew east and 2 Fulmars, an adult Gannet, Little Tern, 2 Common Terns and 111 Sandwich Terns were counted. Also of interest were 2 Spoonbills, a drake Teal on the Broadwater, a Barnacle Goose over Lavender Marsh, a Med Gull, Cuckoo, 13 Swallows, 2 Willow Warblers and 2 Lesser Whitethroats.
A bumper catch of moths today included 3 Barred Yellows, 4 Buff Tips, a Willow Beauty, Privet Hawk Moth, Eyed Hawk Moth, 4 Cinnabars, 4 Sharp-angled Peacocks, a Small Blood-vein, 3 Small Elephant Hawks, 13 Common Swifts, 8 Mottled Rustics, a Ringed China-mark, 6 Middle-barred Minors, 2 Southern Wainscots, a Burnished Brass, 3 Flames, 2 Pretty Chalk Carpets (one pictured), 2 Heart & Darts, 3 Haworth’s Pugs, 2 Turnips, a Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing, 2 Large Yellow Underwings, a Bedstraw Hawk Moth, a Small Dusty Wave, 2 Heart & Clubs, a Fanfoot, a Treble Brown-spot, Breckland Plume, Mottled Beauty, 3 Dark Arches, 5 Sand Darts, 2 Lyme Grass, 2 Dwarf Cream Waves, Smoky Wainscot, 2 Striped Wainscots, 2 Uncertains, a Common Footman, Small Square-spot, Brown Rustic, Bordered White, 2 Rustic, Nutmeg, Rustic Shoulder-Knot, Common Wainscot and a Knot-grass.
Meadow Browns were numerous with 30+ recorded and 2 Small Heaths were also on the wing.
