Holme Bird Observatory

9th June 2023

Three Spoonbills were on the Broadwater mid morning, with another seen at Thornham Harbour. A Grasshopper Warbler was reeling near the Observatory Car Park and a singing Willow Warbler nearby was unusual for this time of year. The moth traps were unsurprisingly quiet, with only 11 moths of 8 species caught. Butterflies recorded when we did get bursts of sunshine, included Common Blue, Brimstone, Small Heath, Wall Brown, Speckled Wood and Green Hairstreak.
