It was a really breezy start and was all happening in the dunes today with at least 3 Ring Ouzel were in the dunes and a Firecrest in the scrub near NWT car park. When I was walking down to the NOA car park I heard the unmistakable call of Bearded Tit, but coming from the sycamores in the NWT car park! They were seen doing dispersal flights over the car park/pines. There was a good number of Little Gull feeding offshore with 40 reported and 2 Cattle Egret were in Thornham Harbour. A few flocks of Redpoll were around the Obs, along with a couple of Brambling over.

Early afternoon the wind changed direction/dropped off meaning we could open some nets and we caught and processed 5 Long-tailed Tit, 2 Goldcrest, 2 Chiffchaff, 4 Blue Tit, 1 Blackcap, 2 Goldfinch, 3 Robin, 1 Dunnock, 2 Blackbird and 1 Wren.

We were also doing some work around the Obs in the tool shed and ringing shed, as we’re looking to extend it to make it a bit roomier and easier to move around, and ideally fit more ringers in! After we shut the nets, the dark clouds and thunder starting rolling in before we had torrential rain which let to us getting very, very wet heading home..

The moth traps were quiet today with 5 Narrow winged Grey, 8 Large Wainscot and a lovely fresh Merveille du Jour the highlight!
