Water Rail chick-S.Clifford
It was a hot or cold day, depending on which side of the dunes you were on—the northerly wind made sunbathing on the beach a bit chilly. Today we ran our weekly moth morning and recorded the following moths:

Oak Egger, Drinker, Dark Arches and Ruby Tiger (photo S. Clifford)
Our bird highlights today were: 1 Hobby around Broadwater towards Thornham, 1 Great-spotted Woodpecker in the pines, 11 Curlew, 2 Whimbrel and 11 Black-tailed Godwit flying over, 3 Water Rail (1 adult and 2 chicks) in front of the first NWT hide, 2 Green Sandpiper on Broadwater.
