It was generally quiet again for ringing despite the northerly/northeasterly wind and some drizzle. We caught 39 birds (19 new and 20 retraps). For new birds we caught 11 Goldcrest, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Cetti’s Warbler, 1 Robin, 2 Blue Tit, 2 Redwing and 1 Blackbird. For retraps we caught 1 Cetti’s Warbler, 6 Blue Tit, 2 Goldcrest, 2 Wren, 3 Robin, 1 Dunnock, 4 Long-tailed Tit and 1 Blackcap. A lovely mix of birds and it’s nice to be catching some Redwing!

On the reserve, we had 1 Redpoll and 4 Brambling go over, one of which was showing nicely in the pines. There are still a couple of Tufted Duck on the Broadwater with the Shoveler. A Firecrest was reported this morning, and a Black-throated Diver was reported on the sea in the afternoon.

Quiet in the moth traps today with 3 Large Yellow Underwing, 8 Lunar Underwing, 1 Beaded Chestnut, 1 Mallow, 3 Narrow-winged Grey, 4 Large Wainscot, 1 Black Rustic and 3 White Point.
