Shore Knot-horn

With starting at 3am ringing the Sand Martin this morning (please see our blog post from today about it here) Bee and I headed to the Obs afterwards until early afternoon and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon off. It was a quiet day for bird sightings with the highlight being a Greenshank along the Broadwater and a group of 15 Redshank on the grazing marsh.

The moths were the stars of the day again, and it was a great day for the Wednesday Moth Morning! Thank you to our volunteers who help every Wednesday morning and do the moth traps and show everyone the moths we catch, please do come along on Wednesdays at 10am if you would like to see lots of moths! I have included the list below, which as you can see I ran out of room! But we also had 2 Yellow-tail, 1 White Satin, 1 Spindle Ermine, 1 Coleophora salicorniae (only the second ever record at the Obs) and 1 Coleophora Pennella. We had our first Garden Tiger of the year which is always lovely to see! We also had a Shore Knot-horn which is a rare moth in Norfolk (restricted to coastal sites usually).
