Four-dotted Footman
Another hot day at the Obs and a quiet day for bird sightings today. The top bird highlight from today was probably a Great Spotted Woodpecker flying across the dunes, not a bird we often record here!
It was a brilliant day for insects with another really busy moth trap with some really nice moths. Highlights included Four-dotted Footman, Tawny Wave, Reed Dagger, Fen Wainscot, Poplar Hawk and European Corn-borer.

Whilst walking through the reserve a dragonfly crashed into the bramble bush and I was delighted to see it was a Norfolk Hawker. Gatekeeper butterflies have really picked up in number and can be seen everywhere along with Peacock, Red Admiral, Painted Lady, Whites and Skippers.
