Spoonbill
It was a cloudy and wind still morning which made it perfect for ringing. However the catch wasn’t huge probably due to the northerly wind that has stopped migration. Most birds caught were retraps: 2 Chiffchaff, 2 Blackcap, 2 Goldcrest, 1 Robin, 1 Bluetit, 1 Cetti’s Warbler.
1 Goldfinch, 2 Sedge Warbler and 1 Whitethroat were new birds.
Bird highlights today were: 4 Spoonbill (seen from the last NWT Broadwater hide) and 1 Grey Wagtail at the Obs.
The moth traps were also rather empty, especially the one that isn’t sheltered by the ringing hut. 1 Emperor, 3 Muslin, 3 Pine Beauty, 4 Hebrew Character, 1 Northern Drab, 1 Agonopterix ocellana.
