Ring Ouzel
There was quite a brisk south easterly wind today, but it turned out to be a glorious sunny Spring day! Sadly, it was too windy for ringing but a good day for some migrants moving again in these nice south easterlies. There was a Brambling around the Obs first thing. We had 3 Sand Martin east through the pines mid-morning and a Redpoll over. A Willow Warbler and Blackcap were singing in the dell/in the pines around the Obs most of the morning. There was a lovely male Ring Ouzel found in the dunes on the white post trail. We went to see it and it was right on top of the pill box! There were 4 Wheatear at Thornham pools/fields.
In the moth traps today we had a bit more diversity with 1 Chestnut, 4 Hebrew Character, 2 Powdered Quaker, 1 Red Chestnut and 1 Clouded Drab. There were a few Peacock butterflies around and a Brimstone.
