Cattle Egret – Shannon Clifford

Happy Easter!

It was a very windy day at the Obs, and again too windy for ringing (we’ve not had much luck this spring so far…).  The sea was quiet with 3 Red-breasted Merganser and 1 Common Scoter. A single Cattle Egret was still with the cows off the main NWT track. There were at least 8 Chiffchaff around the Obs and between the NWT VC and the Saltings.

According to bird news services, the Great Grey Shrike was still showing well from the footpath near the Golf Course, so very close to be in the Obs recording area! Hopefully it continues on east.

Only 2 Hebrew Character and 1 Small Quaker in the moth traps. A very different spring to 2025 so far in terms of moths!
