Norfolk Ornithologists Association - NOA

An Egyptian Goose flew over the track first thing in the morning. The Barn Owl was foraging over the grazing marsh in virtually the same spot as yesterday. The Long-tailed Duck was still on the sea today. I also picked up 6 Eider, all drakes apart from a single female. A flock of 16 Bar-tailed Godwit flew past in the morning. Whilst walking the beach from Thornham Point to Gore Point I came across the same Norwegian Great Black-backed Gull I found yesterday… It was much more confiding today, and I was able to double check the ring combination! Once I get the details back from the scheme I’ll share them on the blog here.

There were a large number of Pink-footed Geese on the grazing marsh, at least 500 birds. The Broadwater has a fantastic number of ducks at the moment with the numbers being dominated by Teal and Mallard, but also Shoveler, Tufted Duck, Gadwall and the Pochard have also been there for the past few days. It feels like more of the birds have started singing in the past few days with Skylark, Stock Dove and the Coal Tit being especially vocal around the Obs!
