Shoveler – Seamus Griffin

Yesterday it was a rather murky and misty day at the Obs. There were a few bits on the sea with 6 Eider, 250 Common Scoter, 4 Red-breasted Merganser, 3 Red-throated Diver, 2 Fulmar, 1 Guillemot and 4 Great Crested Grebe. Otherwise on the reserve there was a single Greenshank, 2 Water Rail and 1 Barn Owl.

Today there was a brisk easterly and a pretty dreich day! The highlight from today was a flock of 40 Snow Bunting reported off Gore Point! Snow Bunting have been few and far between this autumn so far so hopefully they stick around! Numbers of Teal are building on the Broadwater with 120 this morning, joined by 11 Tufted Duck.

From everyone at the NOA, we hope you all have a lovely Christmas!
