It’s been a nice winters day at Holme. On the sea this morning there were 17 Red-breasted Mergansers, 9 Great-crested Grebes, 1 Great Northern Diver, 2 Red-throated Divers, 7 Eider and 1 Fulmar. Around high tide there were some good roosts of waders on the saltmarsh and beach between Holme and Thornham with 87 Curlew, 44 Black-tailed Godwit, 175 Lapwing, 55 Sanderling, 32 Redshank, 75 Oystercatchers and 1 Greenshank. There was also a flyover of 45 Golden Plover and 2 Snipe. On the way to Thornham Harbour there were 6 Rock Pipits, 12 Meadow Pipits, 7 Pied Wagtails and 23 Skylarks. Around the Obs it has been a bit quieter, wtih a highlight of 3 Crossbills first thing.
