Hume's Leaf Warbler - Seamus Griffin

The Hume’s Leaf Warbler was still around first thing this morning and then again this afternoon. It has been around the Obs since Sunday, when it was found by Roger Skeen, see image above. We opened the nets this morning, hopeful for a wing-barred Phylloscopus but alas noIt was still a good morning of ringing with 40 birds: 2 Goldcrest, 6 Robin, 2 Chaffinch, 1 Blackcap, 3 Blue Tits, 1 Goldfinch, 4 Greenfinch, 1 Great Tit and 3 Blackbirds. Retraps: 9 Blue Tits, 2 Great Tits, 2 Robins, 1 Blackbird, 2 Wrens and 1 Dunnock.

Other highlights around the Obs include a Yellow-browed Warbler, 3 Woodcock, 5 Tufted Ducks, 2 Goldeneye, 2 Brambling, 2 Siskin, 2 Redpoll, 16 Goldfinch, 5 Reed Bunting and 2 Crossbills. On the beach/sea this morning there were 11 Snow Buntings, 3 Red-breasted Mergansers, 2 Red-throated Divers, 1 Great Northern Diver, 30 Cormorant, 6 Great Crested Grebes, 200 Oystercatchers, 19 Grey Plover, 6 Ringed Plover, 18 Curlew, 18 Bar-tailed Godwit, 8 Turnstone, 155 Knot, 38 Sanderling, 84 Dunlin, 68 Redshank and 3 Kittiwake.
