A seawatch at high tide was quiet compared to recent days with 225 Pink-footed Geese, 2 Brent Geese, 1 Common Scoter, 3 Red-breasted Merganser, 50 Oystercatcher, 1 Golden Plover, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit, 2 Turnstone, 3 Black-headed Gull, 7 Herring Gull, 1 Great Black-backed Gull, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Red-throated Diver, 31 Cormorant and 2 Goldeneye the highlight. A drake Goosander and a single Long-tailed Duck were also reported over the sea towards Gore Point.

Otherwise around the reserve the bird of the day definitely has to be the Crossbill which have been showing brilliantly on NOA and also NWT coming down to the ponds to drink as well as a puddle on NWT side. We had a peak count of 13 birds at once which were going between the Pines and the Poplar tree in the staff car park.

The moth traps picked up a bit last night with13 species in the traps today including 7 Rusty Dot Pearl, 1 Feathered Thorn, 1 Black Rustic, 7 Large Yellow Underwing, 2 Beaded Chestnut, 1 Chestnut, 1 Large Pale Masoner, 2 White Point, 2 Red-green Carpet, 1 Green Brindled Crescent, 1 Turnip, 1 November moth and 1 Narrow-winged Grey. A Silver-Y moth was on the Buddleia.
