A wild, wet and windy day at the Observatory! Highlights of the day so far include a small fall of Goldcrests (40+) , 2 Crossbill, 3 Brambling, 30 Blackbirds, 10 Redwing, 2 Fieldfare, 1 Mistle Thrush, 8 Wigeon, 4 Gadwall, 110 Teal, 2 Pintail, 18 Shoveler, 6 Tufted ducks, 45 Great Black-backed Gulls, 60 Brent Geese and 6 Cattle Egrets. 5 Greenshank, 1 Whooper Swan and 1 Jack Snipe were showing well from the first NWT hide.

Moths today included: 6 Large Wainscot, 1 Shore Wainscot, 9 White-Point, 12 Large Yellow Underwing, 16 Rusty-dot Pearl, 2 Vine’s Rustic, 5 Turnip, 1 Light Brown Apple Moth, 3 Beaded Chestnut, 4 Narrow-winged Grey, 2 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 3 Lunar Underwing, 1 Shuttle-shaped Dart, 1 Olive-tree Pearl, 1 Grey Shoulder-knot and 6 Red-green Carpet.
