A pretty windy and rainy day at the Observatory and so too windy for ringing again. There is a lovely drake Pintail on the Broadwater. The Jack Snipe are continuing to show well from NWT Hide 1. A few more thrushes on the move with 2 Ring Ouzel (both in the dunes/paddocks area), 2 Song Thrush, 5 Redwing, 15 Blackbird and 1 Fieldfare. A single Crossbill was showing well from the pines.

Very quiet in the moth traps today with only 1 Green Brindled Crescent, 4 Large Wainscot, 5 White Point, 3 Large Yellow Underwing and 2 Lunar Underwing. I also found this Grey Shoulder-knot resting right by the entrance gate from the boardwalk at the top of the reserve. I often wonder how many moths you walk past right out in the open on an average day!
