Whinchat Ben Rackstraw
On a morning seawatch there was 11 Common Scoter, 1 Red-throated Diver, 5 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Manx Shearwater, 16 Gannet, 17 Cormorant, 31 Black-headed Gull, 1 Common Gull, 58 Herring Gull, 2 Great Black-backed Gull, 49 Sandwich Tern, 3 Auk sp and 17 Pink-footed Geese. In total we had 49 Pink-footed Geese today so they’re starting to arrive! Slightly strange in 25 degree heat. Otherwise, it was quiet around the reserve with more strong westerlies, with a single Whinchat and Redstart in the dunes. Four Bearded Tit were seen from the car park hide.
A bit more in the moth traps today and more autumnal moth species with 12 Square Spot Rustic, 1 White Point, 16 Large Yellow Underwing, 3 Setaceous Hebrew Character, 1 Ruby Tiger, 2 Lunar Underwing, 1 Beet Moth, 2 Shuttle Shaped Dart, 1 Large Wainscot and 1 Lunar Yellow Underwing.
