Holme Bird Observatory
for as little as 14p per day.

Wren – Seamus Griffin
A really wet and windy day at the Observatory making birding challenging. On the beach first thing this morning there were 170+ Oystercatcher, 22 Curlew, 30 Bar-tailed Godwit and 8 Redshank, with Black-headed, Common, Herring and Great Black-backed Gulls. There were 32 Redshank and 9 Black-tailed Godwit on the car park pools. A large flock of 61 Lapwing flew over the grazing marsh in the afternoon.
Unfortunately, no moths today as we were unable to run our moth traps last night, but we will be back to normal tomorrow! Though not sure we’ll get many with the windy conditions overnight..
There were only a few butterflies braving the conditions with Wall Brown and Gatekeeper on the wing. Still lots of Bee Wolfs active on the paths.
