Bedstraw Hawk Moth Eric Yeomans
On the Broadwater at least 9 Black-tailed Godwits, 11 Avocets, a Green Sandpiper, 80 Redshank and 70 Lapwings were counted, with 2 Stonechats in the dunes and 2 Yellow Wagtails flying over ahead of the rain.
In the moth traps today a Bedstraw Hawk Moth, 2 Reed Daggers, a Webb’s Wainscot, 5 Drinkers, 6 Scarce Footmen, a Garden Tiger, 11 Ruby Tigers, 2 Ear sp, a Bird Cherry Ermine, 5 Common Rustics, 2 Rusty-dot Pearls, 3 Least Yellow Underwings, 4 Uncertains, 3 Large Yellow Underwings, 2 Cloaked Minors, a Kent Black Arches, 3 Setaceous Hebrew Characters, 5 Dingy Footmen, a Lesser Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing, a Diamond-back, Mother of Pearl, Small Waved Umber, 6 Shuttle-shaped Dart, a Garden Pebble, a Flame Shoulder, 5 Rustics, 5 Broad Bordered Yellow Underwings, a Poplar Hawk Moth, 3 Yellow Tails, 2 Knot Grass, 3 Turnips, a White Point, 3 Single Dotted Waves, a Fern, Platytes alpinella, a Rosy Footman, a Brown-tail, Mouse Moth, Archer’s Dart and Brown China-mark were caught.
Despite the dull and wet conditions butterflies still included 12 Gatekeepers, a Wall Brown, Red Admiral, Small White and 3 Small Heaths.
