Black Redstart

A female Black Redstart was in the NWT car park. At Thornham a drake Garganey was showing at times, with a Little Ringed Plover also noted. On the NWT pools a Common Sandpiper was present and 3 Cuckoos were around the recording area, with a Med Gull, 5 Sand Martins, 12 Swallows, 6 Cetti’s Warblers, 20 Chiffchaffs, 3 Willow Warblers, 8 Blackcaps, 3 Lesser Whitethroats, 17 Whitethroats, 15 Sedge Warblers, 10 Reed Warblers, 9 Stonechats and 4 Yellow Wagtails recorded.

In the moth traps a Pine Beauty, 5 Flame Shoulders, a Vine’s Rustic, Treble Lines, Green Carpet, Shuttle-shaped Dart, Pale Tussock and Pale-mottled Willow were caught, with 14 Green Long-horn moths on the sycamores near the Obs.

Butterflies included Green-veined White, Brown Argus, Small Heath, Green Hairstreak, Red Admiral, Wall Brown and Speckled Wood. 3 Hairy Hawkers, 3 Large Red Damselflies and an Azure Damselfly were also recorded.
