An exciting day at the obs today. The Eastern Subalpine Warbler was still around the coastal public footpath near the entrance gate today and showing very well throughout the day.

There was a noticeable increase in birds following the change to southerly winds with highlights including 10 Willow Warbler, 7 Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Redstart, 1 Black Redstart, 3 Cuckoo, 1 Hobby, 44 Swallow, 20 House Martin, 16 Sand Martin, 2 Swift and 1 Whimbrel.

In the moth traps today were 2 Muslin, 1 Powdered Quaker, 1 Silver Y and 1 Shuttle-shaped Dart. A few butterflies were on the wing, with 2 Green Hairstreak, 2 Orange Tip, 1 Brimstone, 1 Green Veined White, 4 Small White and 3 Peacock.
